Finally we went to the Ober Heath area and I can say without exaggeration that I've seen more deer on one day than in the last couple of years altogether. We came across fallow deer, red deer and even a fox, so we had a very fruitful day in spite of being really soaked and bone tired by the end of the trip. We've listened to the sounds of deer rutting and seen a short, playful fight between two young bucks.

a young fallow buck jumped onto the track about 5 metres in front of us, posed for a photo, then in seconds has already been swallowed the the thick forest

a red deer herd marched out out the coniferous woods in the western part of Ober Heath at the same time we were arriving there, it was prefect timing

the herd got scared away by a couple of tourists and we managed to find them again about 1.5 kms away at the eastern side of Poundhill Heath
